I didn't spend 20 years in traditional IT. My background is as a research scientist. My PhD is in Computational Chemistry , where my job wasn't just to write code, but to model and understand highly complex enzymatic systems at an atomic level.
When I entered the tech world, I couldn't rely on "a decade of experience" to make the right call. So I applied the only method I knew: the scientific one.
I treated the data platform not as a collection of pipelines to be fixed, but as a complex system to be designed. Based on what worked for me, I built a systematic framework—a repeatable model based on first principles—to evaluate trade-offs and make the right architectural decisions.
My journey took me from engineer to Data Platform Architect/Lead, where I've architected and consulted on enterprise-wide Data Lakehouse platforms on Azure for major European companies in sectors like transportation and finance. The platforms I delivered were not only more scalable and secure, but in one case, slashed legacy platform costs by 80% while enabling new AI capabilities. The framework I teach is the systematic approach I built and perfected while walking that path.
My scientific background is my single greatest strength as an educator, and it's your biggest advantage as a student.
